Well, what week I’ve had! I’ve been really busy, with three properties on my books already, over 400 people on my mailing list, and over 4000 people to look after on my social media accounts. It has been a steep learning curve, and not always straightforward.
I do apologise if you ever see news on my social media accounts, or in my newsletters, before I manage to communicate with you in person. This happened yesterday, and I had one unhappy reader on my hands. When I started Canalside Homes, I was hoping to phone everyone individually with every new development, but it simply isn’t possible. I’m having to make some tough decisions about how to prioritize my time in order to provide the best possible service and outcome for my clients.
I’m running Canalside Homes as a one-woman home office. I don’t want to outsource my calls to an agency either. There’s nothing worse than phoning an estate agent and getting one of those anonymous call centre workers who know nothing about the property, let alone canals! I will be relying heavily on mass communication to ensure that I am keeping as many people as possible in the loop. Of course, I will always call you in person whenever I need to, but sometimes there may be a slight delay. Please rest assured that I’m doing my best to be a good communicator, and I’m working on improving my systems all the time.
You may also know that I have Aspergers. I struggle a lot with guilt and self image, and I take criticism personally, so yesterday’s email exchange was a bit upsetting. I am hugely grateful to those of you who have sent me lovely messages of support and congratulations recently. It has meant a great deal to know that you all have my back!
Today I am thrilled to introduce you to a new property! Crofton Lock House is a delightful lock keeper’s cottage on the Kennet and Avon Canal. It stands on the towpath side in a wonderful rural location. The cottage offers a tranquil retreat, remote, but not isolated. It is ideal for those of you interested in a pursuing a low impact and sustainable life style.For many years the sellers have moored a small pontoon craft with an outboard engine (about 12 feet long) beside the property on the towpath side of the canal. This craft holds a current CRT licence and is included in the sale.
One of the properties I showed you last week, Dunsley Rock Cottage in Kinver, is now under offer! I feel absolutely privileged to have been able to make two households extremely happy. I wish them both well as they undertake the journey from here to receiving the keys to their new homes.
I’ve been getting lots of enquiries about the other property, Kings Lock Cottage in Aylestone, but nothing which has translated into a proceedable offer. Could this be your perfect property? It is a fabulous cottage, in fact, when the owner saw my photographer’s images, he said he’d like to buy it himself!
